Relationship with students

¡ãIs a severe teacher a good teacher?

¡@¡@. You may be have been advised to stand firm, or never smile in front your students. It may not be a bad piece of advice. However, it is not a cure to all problems. A long face may be efficient only in short term. Good relationship between you and your students is what you should try to achieve.

¡@¡@. Hold your temper as much as you can. If you should ever lose your temper and get angry, your anger must be justified, better still justified in the eyes of the class.

¡ãWhat is a good teacher?
¡@¡@. All personalities make good teachers. However, while you are entitled to your personality, you would do well to stay warm, considerate, helpful and understanding. A teacher is a good teacher whom the students can depend on and talk to.

¡@¡@Remember, you must :
¡@¡@ - Be fair to everyone
¡@¡@ - Have good judgement, especially when trying to settle quarrels arisen in class or between students.
¡@¡@ - Be decisive. Don't always leave matters unsettled.
¡@¡@ - Be nice and warm
¡@¡@ - Always show your appreciation : words of praise are encouraging, rewarding and effective.
¡@¡@ - You can show your anger, but only at the bad deeds, not the persons.
¡@¡@ - Prepare your lessons well, have confidence in what you teach.
