You may contact the Rights and Complaint Department for questions over your job rights.
  1. Since our establishment in 1973, the Rights and Complaints Department has handled and solved numerous problems over teachers' complaints, related to jobs security and working condition.

  2. Duty hours of Rights and Complaints Department Officers: every Tuesday and Thursday 08:00-10:00 p.m. (Closed in August, Public and PTU holidays. In case of urgent matters, special appointment can be arranged)

  3. How to Enquire and complain: you may phone 27807337 or come to our union office in Kowloon when officers are on duty.

An outline of the Department's work

  1. Complaint and enquiry services: every Tuesday and Thursday night, we accept members' enquiries and complaints related to job security and working condition. Last year (3/97-2/98),we have dealt with 2378 enquiries and complaints.

    Problems handled:
    Leaves 13.1% Redundancy 0.8%
    Resignations 2.4% Promotions 3.4%
    Provident fund 3.9% Labour disputes 0.4%
    Salary calculation 13.4% Contracts 7.4%
    Contracts Termination 7.8%Qualifations Accessment 7.6%
    Others 39.8%

  2. Agreement between Education Department and our Union: To guaranttee that no teacher would lose their job because of regional changes, the Education Department takes it as its responsibility to arrange to transfer "redundant" teachers to schools where there are vacancies. Every year, round about May/June, talks would be held with the Education Department.So far, the Education Department has never failed us.

  3. Talks:

    A talk called "Schools and Laws" has also been arranged to help teachers understand better on legal matters related to their duties in school.
